Holiday hosts do so much to promote the festive spirit of the season. Often going to great lengths to ensure holiday guests enjoy their visits, including the food and drinks they serve the guests they welcome into their homes.

While many would say that no holiday get-together is complete without the beloved classic eggnog, most popular during the holiday season, what about our Vegan family and friends? Well, have we got something for you, the holiday party hosting mixologist! This holiday season, you can treat guests to a delicious Vegan Oat Nog that is sure to be a hit!

Vegan Oat Nog

Serves: 4
  • 4 cups oat milk, (gluten-free if preferred)
  • 6 tablespoons maple syrup
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 0.5 teaspoon nutmeg, plus more for garnish
  • 2 tiny pinch black salt (also called Kala Namak), (optional for eggy taste)
  • cinnamon sticks or whole star anise, for garnish (optional)


NOTE: Add a splash of Torani Peppermint syrup for a Christmas twist on this holiday classic!

Ardith Thygerson’s Christmas Eve Clam Chowder

Recipe Courtesy: Vaun Thygerson, friend, contributing writer, and mother of three.

  • 2- 6 ounce cans clams
  • ¾ cup flour
  • 1 cup onion, diced
  • 1 quart of either half & half or milk
  • 1 cup celery, diced
  • 2 teaspoons pepper
  • 2 cup potatoes, diced
  • ½ teaspoon sugar
  • ¾ cup butter


Combine veggies in pan. Drain clams and pour juice over veggies. Set aside clams. Add water to cover potatoes and veggies and bring to a boil. Then simmer until tender. In a separate pan, add melted butter, flour and blend. Add half & half/milk, salt, pepper, and sugar, and cook until thick by stirring with a whisk. Add undrained veggies, potatoes, and clams to the flour mixture. Serve with oyster crackers and Tabasco sauce if desired.
