Kern County Network for Children Monthly Training "Supporting Multilingual Individuals in the Workplace" 2026

Please join the Kern County Network for Children for this Free training as they welcome Dr. Bernadette Towns, Professor of Child Development at Bakersfield College. Dr. Towns will be leading this training called Supporting Multilingual Individuals in the Workplace. In this interactive workshop, participants will explore the experience of being a multilingual learner. Through hands-on activities, including the creation of a sensitivity collage, you will examine the challenges multilingual individuals face and identify three practical strategies for fostering inclusivity in the workplace. These strategies can be applied when working with parents, coworkers, or community members.

Learning Outcomes: By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to: • Explain the lived experience of a multilingual individual. • Identify and describe three strategies for supporting multilingual individuals in the workplace. • Develop a personalized plan to implement one of these strategies in their professional environment.
