Kern County Heroes for Hope Activity Week
Mon, Mar 31 through 04/04/2025
This year’s theme is: “It Takes a Village”: Understanding and Expanding the Concept of the “Village.” This proverb conveys the idea that a child's well-being & development is the responsibility of the community, not just the parents. Please join the April Activities & define your role in our “village”!
Help shine a light on #ChildAbuseAwarenessMonth. Kern County joins by participating in Heroes for Hope Activity Week from March 31st- April 4th!
March 31: Twin Day! Buddy up and dress alike to show the power of family connections and community. Empower others to build positive relationships with family, neighbors, and their community to grow their network of support.
April 1: Superhero Day! Wear anything superhero related. We can all be a hero in a child’s life by helping create a healthy and happy environment in which they can feel safe. Take this opportunity to discuss with children when they should speak up and ask for help especially if they ever feel unsafe or if anyone has ever harmed them.
April 2: On Chalk Art Day, grab some chalk and show your support by creating symbols of unity in the fight against child abuse. Artwork can promote child safety by providing a non-verbal outlet for children to express emotions, process experiences, and communicate potential dangers or concerns, fostering a safe and supportive environment.
April 3: Pinwheels serve as the official symbol of Child Abuse Prevention Month. Help us honor this month by planting blue pinwheels in your garden.
April 4: Send in a photo of you, your family, co-workers, or class wearing blue for WE(AR) BLUE DAY! People all over the state will be doing the same.
