The Humble Pear Packs Quite a Nutritious Punch

It might not garner the same level of attention as apples, bananas or other popular fruits, but the humble pear is packed with nutrients.

According to USA Pears, a medium-sized, 100-calorie pear contains 21 percent of the recommended daily value of fiber and 8 percent of the recommended daily value of vitamin C. The fiber in pears can be especially beneficial, as fiber promotes a healthy gastrointestinal tract and helps maintain balance and regularity. Fiber also has been linked to a reduced risk for colorectal cancer, making pears a worthy addition to anyone's diet.
