Back-to-School season is the perfect time to refresh healthy habits—starting with how kids carry their backpacks. The right fit, weight, and daily use can prevent strain, improve posture, and help students stay comfortable and focused throughout the school day.
  • Pick the right pack: Two wide padded straps, padded back, lightweight materials, and a size that fits your child’s frame.
  • Keep it light: Aim for no more than 10–15% of your child’s body weight. Put heavy items closest to the back.
  • Wear it right: Use both straps and adjust so the backpack sits mid‑back, just above the hips.
  • Watch for warning signs: Leaning forward, shoulder/neck pain, tingling, or struggling to lift the backpack means it’s too heavy or poorly fitted.
  • Boost safety: Add reflective patches for visibility. Rolling backpacks can help—check school rules first.
